END OF SEASON SALE

Indonesia League will soon start the final round in Jakarta after all teams finished their group competition to find 2007/2008 Indonesia League Champion. The Semi Final and Final Round will start January 2008 in Jakarta. Final Rounds will hold interesting matches since it will determine the future of most Indonesian players in the club and the future of the club itself.

Indonesia Football Association has issued 2008 Super League as the highest level of Indonesia League in the professional level, starting 2008. There will be only 16 clubs compete in the Super League, not 36 clubs in two groups like the one running now, and only clubs with professional management may participate in Super League.

Unfortunately, most clubs in Indonesia are not professional clubs. They are amateur and semi-professional clubs. Many clubs represent region fanaticism rather than professional atmosphere. It may sound natural, but it leaves time bomb when the club is not managed in professional management. Most of football clubs in Indonesia are subsidized by Annual Region Budget. Each club spends, in average, 1 — 3 million US dollars each year to compete in Indonesia League and management of clubs who are subsidized every year have no efforts to improve the football club into industrial level to stop the subsidy.

These clubs I called amateur clubs. Their fate has been determined at the end of season by the Decree of Minister of Home Affair that prohibit the regional administration to provide subsidy for football clubs. 30 clubs in recent Indonesia League, almost certain, will have no adequate fund to participate in the League next season.

On the other side, there are some semi-professional clubs with minimum budget in the league and they are the only clubs met qualifications for the 2008 Super League in term of professional management, such as AREMA, Pelita Jaya, Semen Padang, PKT Bontang, and Persija Jakarta which is now still under corporate improvement.

So, how can Super League start when there are only five clubs left by the end of this season? The worst that may happen is salary cap for all football players in order to keep the club running. However, I am not so sure all players will accept salary cap regulations. Some of them may prefer to stay as free agent players at the end of the season and look for opportunities to play abroad such as in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, or even Australia.

Bambang Pamungkas, Ilham Jayakusuma, Ponaryo Astaman, Kurniawan Dwi Juliyanto, and Ellie Aiboy are Indonesian players who played in Malaysia League a couple years a go. Rochi Putiray played for Kitchee Hong Kong and scored goals against AC Milan in a friendly match (assist by Luis Boa Morte) between 2003 and 2004. Erol FX Iba received trial offer from Sidney FC Australia. Boaz Salosa and Ortisan Salosa received offer from clubs in Singapore League after their impressive performances in Tiger Cup 2004. I believe they will ask their agents to find new clubs in south east asia region for their future career. So, there will be end of season sale in Indonesia League by February 2008….

  1. Do you think any players are good enough for Europe?

If you mean European League such as Primera Spain, Premier England, or Serie A Italy, it is still beyond our dream. For example, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, Bima Sakti, Anang Ma’ruf, and Kurnia Sandy were in trial program of Sampdoria (Sven Goran was the manager) between 1994 and 1996. Kurniawan then joined FC Luzerne in Switzerland around 1998. Bima Sakti and Anang Ma’ruf joined Helsingborg IF around 1997, while Kurnia Sandy returned home when injured in Asia Cup 1996. Bambang Pamungkas joined EHC Norad in Second Division of Dutch League around 2002/2003. Other players like Boaz Solosa, Irfan Bachdim, Radja Nainggolan, Ilham Jayakusuma, Ponaryo Astaman, Syamsul Bachri, and Ellie Aiboy also have good skill to play in Asia/Europe level. Thank you Roger for visiting my blog

  2. Thanks for the reply. Your blog is great. keep up the good work.

Speaking of Radja Nainggolan, is Indonesia still trying to recruit the European born players that have Indonesian descent (like Joas Siahaija, Justin Tahapary, Levi Risamasu, and more)? I read that in an article somewhere. Also, I heard that they might try to recruit some foreign players in Liga Indonesia (Christian Gonzalez) for the national team. Have you heard this?

So far, the Indonesian Football Association has no serious efforts to approach them, since the association is not well managed (That is why I prefer to write more about Indonesian players rather than clubs or association). Some foreign players in Indonesia League are too old when they have Indonesia nationality, so we cannot expect them to play for Indonesia National Team. Christian Gonzales (foreign player with best qualities in Indonesia League) has asked for Indonesia nationality, but the association does not follow up their request until now. Beside, he is more than 30 years old now. We cannot rely on him as member of the national team for 2011 Asia Cup or even 2014 World Cup qualifying round. No Club in Indonesia League have money to purchase young talented football players to play at home.

  3. What kind of midfielder is Nainggolan? Winger? Holding Mid? Attacking Mid?

I believe he is an attacking midfielder. He has just received good marks when playing against Juventus in Primavera team for Piacenza. Check the club web if you are interested in the player.

  4. I am a director of the Company Spain Soccer promotions based in Madrid and with more than 10 years of work in brokering players of different nationalities from various countries to clubs in the world.
Looking for an agent or any person related to professional football in Asia or Africa to help me a coach that I represent a firm contract with a club in Asia, is a great coach a major tactical strategist with experience in football in Europe americas and that can succeed in football in asia.
In correspondence I helped him to represent players who sign contracts with European clubs and USA with the assurance that seek the best economic conditions and sports for them.
interested write to the next mail
    I hope your comments
    greetings

    Hello Fernando Villava,
Sorry cannot reply your message soon. I am quite busy observing players for the new Indonesia Super League this July 2008. I am not sure if football clubs in Indonesia are interested in your offer, since experienced coach usually asks for high salary. The coach with highest contract value in Indonesia is Benny Dollo, the national team coach. His salary is only around US $ 75,000 a year. The football player with highest contract value in Indonesia is Bambang Pamungkas, with around US $ 100,000 a year. So, I am not sure your “experienced coach” is interested to sign any contract with Indonesian clubs. Good luck anyway with your business….

  5. i want to be a pro footballer im moving to indonesia, im half english and half indonesian, im talented, but have no money, im 11,and want to get to a pro youth team, like manu u11 s, have you got any ideas on what i should do to be a pro in indonesia then england? please.

Hello James, thank’s for visiting my blog.
Well, there is Indonesia Super League now. Most clubs in Super League level shall have youth team. You can start by contacting clubs in Indonesia and ask them about their youth team. Clubs like Pelita jaya, Arema, and Pupuk Kaltim Bontang, have developed their youth team better than others. However, I am not sure if they have scholarship program for talented young footballers like you, because these clubs are also looking for scholarship abroad Indonesia for their youth players, so they may experience better training methods. Good luck James

  6. I have a youth club by name Golden Boys f/c and I will like to introduce team to the youth programe.

  7. I think this is a good blog to visit. I haven’t heard any of Indonesian Leagues for long time. I do not know who to support to be honest. But I notice that persipura is a team that has teamwork, though the boss quit few months ago. I am now flattered with how Persipura plays, and I do hope Persipura can represent Indonesia at Asian Champions League (are we eligible to play for ACL?)
Anyway, good work mate, pls to carry on observing ISL. I want to see how Persipura’s progress in ISL.

    Denis

Thank you Denis for visiting my blog. Sorry I haven’t updated the news inside. Persipura is a good team, I watched them play against Pelita Jaya in Bandung. Beto and Boaz really knew how to improvise their skill against Pelita midfielders. The score was 1-0 for Persipura, and it was an entertaining match. Hopefully they can win the league to compete in Asia level.
