Indonesia Premier League introduces marquee player system to promote the League. Marquee player is known as “guest player”, usually ageing star players, contracted by sponsor and play in the League for a short duration of time. The marquee player system has been implemented in US Major League Soccer and A-League Australia. There is no expectation that these star players will stay on beyond the initial terms of contract. However, it might be a good way to road-test an ageing superstar to see if they have managed to retain enough of their touch to be worth signing longer term.

Substitute players of Bayern Munich gave good lesson on how to play professional football to Indonesian players. Although most of key players of Munich are called up for Euro 2008, the champion of the 2007/2008 German League did not reduce the level of game play.

Jan Schlaudraf scored hattrick in the game , scoring goals at 23rd, 32nd, and 62nd minutes. Breno scored the first goal in 20th minutes, and Toni Kroos scored the last goal of Munich at the end of 2nd half. Indonesia had three opportunities but only scored a goal at the 61st minutes.

Derby County and Bambang Pamungkas

•April 19, 2008 • 2 Comments reported that Derby County is interested in signing Persija Jakarta’s forward Bambang Pamungkas for next season in the Championship Division. The site wrote that Paul Jewell wants to add an experienced attacker to play alongside Emannuel Villa, the Argentinian forward. Derby County will prepare around 300,000 pounds (around 5.4 billions rupiah) for the 27 years old Indonesian international striker.

Bambang Pamungkas currently plays for Persija Jakarta, and has played most of his career in the club. Assistant Manager of Persija, M. Nigara, stated to the media that the club will ask around 15 billions rupiah (around 800,000 pounds) for the transfer fee.

Pamungkas has more than 40 caps for Indonesia bagging more than 20 goals. Bambang’s agent in Europe, Anthony van Dalen, had previously revealed that several clubs in Europe are ready to give the player a try out. However, there is no valid information about the transfer in Derby County official website. I believe we shall wait until the transfer market is open. (*)
